The Pisoni and Francioni families are legendary grapegrowers in the Santa Lucia Highlands. Already successful vegetable crop farmers, they brought their agronomic knowledge to growing some of the best Pinot Noir in California. We have found that grapes from this area, which combines aridity with cool summer temperatures, are always complex and compelling. Complant Pinot Noir is made from eight rows of Pisoni clone selected from the Soberanes Vineyards just outside the town of Gonzales.
The wine was fermented using native yeasts and malolactic bacteria, with 15% whole clusters. It was aged in neutral Burgundy barrels on its lees and bottled without filtration in August 2019. One hundred thirty cases were produced.
